The Thunder Tour is the ultimate 7-day road trip experience, held once a year and designed for true car enthusiasts. It features an exhilarating convoy of Muscle Cars, Street Rods, Rat Rods, and Supercars—primarily V8-powered beasts. The only six-cylinder vehicles permitted are the flat-six Porsche and the Nissan GT-R, both recognized as elite supercars.
In 2025, we proudly celebrate our 14th Thunder Tour!

Each year, the journey kicks off at Cars in the Park in Pretoria, South Africa, on the first Sunday of August. From there, we hit the open road in a new direction every year, exploring different parts of the country.

Along the route, we stop overnight in various towns, where we host a one-hour car show—either in the morning or afternoon—giving local communities a chance to see these incredible machines up close. We also connect with private collectors, many of whom open their rarely-seen collections exclusively for the Thunder Tour.

The grand finale takes place on the final Saturday of the tour, with a midday car show followed by a celebratory prize-giving dinner in the evening.

The Thunder Tour is based on the successful principles of the Power Tour in America.  The difference between the Thunder Tour and the Power Tour is that the Power Tour does not allow Super Cars, only Street Rods and Muscle Cars.   The Power Tour also does not start at the same place every year; they normally start in the town where they ended the previous year and drive +/- 1500 miles (2414 km).
